Windows 8 Release Preview Product Key(Serial Keys)

Microsoft recently released its new operating system called Windows 8 Release Preview.So,if you have already downloaded Windows 8 RP ISO and trying to install it from a bootable CD or USB then it will ask for product key.

Update 1:All the windows 8 Version Keys works only till January 16th 2013.After that you will get notification asking to buy full version of windows.If you don't upgrade then your pc will restart for every hour.The only way to fix this problem is toDownload Windows 8 Pro which is available for Free for 90 Days Trial.Download it and use it for free for 3 Months.

Update 2:Microsoft has blocked all the Release Preview,Consumer Preview and other official keys.So now you can use them anymore.The only way to use Windows 8 for free is to download the pro version for trial for 90 days.

Update 3:You can also Re-arm your windows 8 edition to extend 90 days trial for free. 

What is the Windows 8 Release Preview Product Key?

Though Windows 8 RP is a pre release of Microsoft new Operating System still you require product key(Serial Keys) to install windows 8 release preview.When you install windows 8 release preview you will be asked to enter the product key.

As this is not the final release Microsoft mentioned the Windows 8 Release Preview Product key on their website.They gave a universal product key which works for every windows 8 user.This will not work for final release of Windows 8.

Fix to Product Key Errors: 

Most of them informed me that the Release Preview product key has  been blocked or not working any more.Some of them are getting error after entering the product keys.Here I got couple of solutions to fix the problems during installation.

1.Windows 8 Clean Installation Product Key Do Not Match Problem:

• We need to integrate the key with Windows 8 installation itself,So that there is no need for checking the BIOS for serial key.

• Create a text file with name PID.

• Open it and enter the values as shown in figure below.
• Here you need to replace the xxxx with your own serial key.

• Save the file and copy it to F:\sources. Here F is the bootable Windows 8 Installation disk/Pendrive.

Solution to Error 0xC004F061:

• Run the registry editor. Press WIN+R then type regedit.
• Navigate to the following Key entry: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Setup\OOBE.

• Change the value for ‘MediaBootInstall‘ from 1 to 0.Just double click on the entry to change the value.
• Open an elevated command prompt. This can be done by opening command prompt as admin.
• Run the command: slmgr -rearm.
• Reboot system.
